Ignoring Walkout, Netanyahu Vows to Hunt Down Hamas Leaders

Date:

Undeterred by a mass walkout of over 100 diplomats at the United Nations, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a chilling ultimatum to Hamas leadership: surrender and release all hostages, or be hunted down. This direct threat underscored the uncompromising tone of his address.
Netanyahu spoke to a nearly empty General Assembly hall, a visual representation of the international backlash against his policies. He vehemently attacked the 157 nations that recognize Palestine, calling their decision “horribly wrong” and a dangerous precedent that rewards violence.
On the military front, he was equally resolute. Netanyahu pledged to “finish the job” in Gaza, specifically targeting the remaining Hamas forces he said were concentrated in Gaza City. This commitment came alongside reports of dozens more Palestinian casualties, continuing a nearly two-year trend of devastating conflict.
The speech also included a denial of genocide accusations, with Netanyahu arguing that Israel’s warnings to civilians are proof to the contrary. However, the empty seats in the hall and the thousands of protesters outside in New York City told a different story of a world growing increasingly weary of the conflict and his government’s justifications for it.
