Kazakhstan and Germany are poised to enhance their economic partnership, with a focus on investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. During a meeting in Berlin on September 29, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations and explored the potential for future cooperation. Tokayev emphasized Germany’s role as Kazakhstan’s key strategic partner in Europe, highlighting the progress made over the past 30 years.
The talks in Berlin underscored economic collaboration as a primary agenda item. President Tokayev proposed the creation of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform, intended to support joint ventures and boost investment flows between the two nations. This initiative aims to streamline cooperation and facilitate economic engagement.
In addition, Tokayev engaged with German business leaders to explore opportunities in various sectors, including transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Discussions included topics such as the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and the modernization of Kazakhstan’s railway infrastructure, as well as expanding the country’s manufacturing capabilities.
Both countries are also assessing the potential for German enterprises to participate in Kazakhstan’s industrial and infrastructure projects. This collaboration could provide German companies with greater access to the broader Central Asian market, enhancing their regional footprint.
